Reaching the Middle East with the Gospel through media

Many Christian ministries in the Middle East have been leveraging media as a tool to share the good news of the gospel with those who are desperately seeking hope. Over the years the number of Christian programmes, channels and platforms have increased immensely, offering content that help Christians to unpack the Bible and answer difficult questions, as well as present the teachings of Jesus to those with no Christian background or upbringing. Media allows people to watch, listen and process the message of the gospel from the privacy and safety of their own homes. In this blog post, we discover more about the power of media in reaching the Middle East and North Africa with the gospel.

Sharing our vision of Kingdom impact

Every company has an elevator pitch. With so many moving parts, you might say that Mergon needs a particularly tall building to do its pitch justice. We often hear the question asked, ‘what exactly do you do at Mergon?’ - an understandable question, considering that Mergon is not your ‘typical fit’ in business nor ministry. We are an investment company – but not purely one; a foundation – but not only that. We partner with the business community to lead in social investment and shape the marketplace – but not solely for the sake of social development.

Leading from the heart

In this interview summary with Ziwani’s Sibs Sibanda, Mergon COO Gauché Radley gives us a fresh perspective on what it means to ‘love your neighbour’ in business today. By vulnerably reflecting on some of Mergon’s most challenging seasons, Gauché illustrates how faith is forged in the tough times, which leads to a posture of surrender. This posture, he suggests, is what defines true success, as opposed to the monetary standards by which the world measures success. In a fast paced world of cut throat competition where winner takes all, Gauché shares how ‘laying down power’ and ‘moving at the speed of trust’ will always get you further in the long run.

Partnerships that level the playing field

When we invest directly into businesses, impact ventures or non-profit initiatives we’re not just stewarding capital – we’re stewarding the relationships with those leaders into whose hands we’ve entrusted that capital. That means we become partners on a journey. The challenge for us as Christ-followers is to chart a different course that will accomplish great things together, whilst reflecting God’s heart for redemptive partnership. Read this article by Mergon CEO Pieter Faure, who shares 3 core perspectives that have shaped our partnership journey over decades.

This is Masiwakhe Bulu’s Story of Hope

Your identity lies within. Every life matters, every story is worth telling - the best ones are when God tells His story through us. Stories of Hope is a collection of inspiring stories of ‘ordinary’ people whose lives have been impacted immensely through the work and care of the ministry partners of the Mergon Foundation. This is Masiwakhe Bulu’s Story of Hope. It is estimated that more than 3.2 million learners are bullied yearly in South Africa. Masiwakhe Bulu was one such learner who had to deal with and overcome the effects of bullying as a young boy.

5 Principles for Achieving a Multi-generational Impact
