Collaborative Giving

At Mergon, we deeply value funders and philanthropists who share our heart to see God’s kingdom advanced. We believe effective partnerships are built on clarity, trust, and a shared sense of purpose. When these foundations are in place, collaboration brings greater capacity, richer insight, and essential unity.

Our approach to partnership is built on three core pillars: our mission, strategy, and role as a trusted resource partner. These shape both who we partner with and how we work together. You’ll find more on each of these below.

If these values resonate with you and you are exploring aligned partnerships in your work as a foundation or philanthropist, you’re welcome to connect with Neil Hart, Mergon’s executive head of Grantmaking.

1. Clear mission

Jesus gave us a clear mission to make disciples and take His message to the world. We've taken that mission to heart. Our funding goes to ministries who are centred around the Great Commission - evangelism, making disciples, and planting churches.

2. Shared strategy

Africa holds immense potential to bless the world - and we’re passionate about seeing it unleashed. Our work centres on three strategic focus areas that we believe can most powerfully transform the continent:
·       Christ-centred leadership development
·       Next-generation discipleship
·       Reaching least-reached peoples
At the same time, we recognise that funders may bring specific priorities - such as strengthening ministry capacity, supporting at-risk children, or engaging a particular unreached group. Where these align with our core framework, we are committed to shaping and fulfilling such priorities with flexibility and openness.

3. Trusted resource partners

Our heart is to be a trusted partner who adds value to the grantmaking journey. To that end, Mergon invests in professional capacity - covering operational overheads at no cost to peer funders. Our experienced team brings cultural agility across diverse African contexts, identifies and supports fundable ministries, facilitates healthy and effective projects, and ensures due diligence and transparent reporting.

How you can fund through Mergon

Mergon manages grantmaking both for our own giving and on behalf of peer funders, at no additional cost. You can partner with us in two ways:

1.     Fund ministries directly
Support ministries in Africa with your own designated giving. Our team conducts due diligence, recommends grants, and provides full accountability through ongoing relationships and reporting.

2.     Directly to Mergon
Contribute directly to the Mergon Foundation, joining your funds with ours. Your gift is allocated alongside our existing grants to expand the reach and impact of trusted ministries across Africa.
